Friendship · Then and now
Ole and Jessey Cinis. Two minds moving differently, and a friendship that has held for more than two decades.
In the early photograph, Ole has bright hair, Jessey has dark emo hair and they are holding two small dogs. More than twenty years later, they are together again in Bali, wearing two related UKENA jackets.
Jessey describes himself as a thinker, hacker and polymath. His mind races through systems and structure. Ole’s works by intuition, image and gesture. They meet somewhere between those different ways of seeing.
Then and now
The old picture is not nostalgia placed beside a campaign. It makes the studio photographs legible as another moment in a long conversation.
A rare exception
The coloured jacket is the exception. It points toward the next work: a custom birthday kimono made entirely in black, with the drawing carried through texture, stitch and light rather than colour.
